KLEED Loungewear draws upon the essence of multi-cultural richness to renew and relive
Renew. Rebirth. Relive
Our SS21 collection brings us full circle back to Africa, to the most elemental part of KLEED. Our birthplace, our source of inspiration. Our AMU Collection pays homage to the ancient island of Lamu on the Kenyan coast, a centuries-old crossroads of cultures - African, Indian and Western; but also of peoples: Swahili, Portuguese, Indian and Omani. A living legacy of the richness wrought by different civilizations, evolving together over time.
The AMU collection invites us to rediscover ourselves – stripped of the trappings of urban civilization, of the “sound and the fury”, the pollution, the daily grind and pressure of our lives. The blindingly white crushed coral mosaics of the houses in Lamu, Kenya, heighten our senses. The startlingly blue and warming red of the Masai beads revive us.
We have emerged from this pandemic as better, simpler versions of ourselves.
Time has become immeasurably precious - especially now we can spend it with our close friends and family. KLEED’s SS21 collection draws upon its Continuities line – best of friends and enduring favourites.
KLEED Kimonos – rediscovered
The hallmark hand-loomed KLEED Kimonos pay homage to the simpler, more meaningful way of life we have (re)discovered over the year - and that we want to maintain. Their flowing lines mirror our zest for a freedom recently rediscovered. The bright colours call upon us to celebrate life, re-energizing us with their depth of colour and vibrant hues.
Featuring KLEED’s own IKAT designs, this season’s kimonos reflect Lamu’s Moorish and Arabian heritage in their Lamu copper-red or indigo-blue; but also in their geometrical patterns, with a stunning blue or pink spreadeagled crane embroidered on the back. Forest green and cream kimonos boast a quirky hot pink butterfly embroidery on the back.
Branching out into more abstract designs, are the vibrant, indigo blue Hoop print kimonos, embellished with their own brightly coloured butterfly embroideries.
This season’s flowered kimonos, with their timeless red and cream backgrounds feature contrasting collar bands and the most flattering sash-like belts.
Kaftans and dresses – utterly feminine, eminently you.
KLEED’s SS21 collection presents utterly irresistible, more tailored IKAT dresses, with their half-moon patterns in indigo and white; or Lamu copper-red, ochre and indigo.
The luscious cream or sun-washed blue Planes dresses feature enchanting double cross patterns, in the same heartwarming indigo blue or Lamu copper-red; but also in the elemental, enveloping teal green.
Back by popular demand, a true herald of warm summer evenings to come – the new, flatteringly tailored sundresses – a rush of flower power, in rich warm red and cool cream backgrounds. As versatile for sun kissed early evening lounging, as for more sophisticated party vibes.
This season, KLEED’s renowned and unique Kaftans are back in a longer length, with a stunning new Full Moon pattern – in heart-throb red, or cool, reflective cream.
Sustainable details that really make a difference
As always, the thoughtful details that delight: KLEED’s kimonos come in their own matching IKAT hand-loomed cotton bag, with an organic cotton tag, tied with Masai beads that double up as a bracelet. Even the delicate wrapping paper is fiendishly beautiful – whimsical Victorian-inspired animal prints, using biodegradable tissue paper. KLEED articles are lovingly enveloped in biodegradable packaging, made from cornstarch and delivered to your door using DHL’s Go Green climate-neutral shipments.
Summer 2021. A time to renew, a time to relive. And a time for rebirth.
A time to reflect but also to relive. To recover our lives as we love them – with meaning, with joy and with gratitude. This season, KLEED celebrates the essence of you.
Enjoy the Collection and welcome to KLEED’s world of sustainable lounge and sleepwear.
